The following is the text of ANCAP's Environmental Policy, adopted by Res 10/10/996 (D) No. 893/10/996 30/09/998 and revision approved by Res (D) No. 595 / 9 / 998 and ratified by ANCAP in 2005 Directory.
General Considerations
In conservation and environmental protection, good intentions are not enough, so ANCAP has decided to adopt an environmental policy and commitment to develop and promote programs that help all industrial activities conducted with the least possible negative impact on the environment.
Contributing to the objectives set, ANCAP has created a specialized multidisciplinary structure to ensure that its operations are conducted in an environmentally satisfactory and responsible.
In the vast field of environmental issues, so much interest from authorities, NGOs and the general population-ANCAP aspires to become a model in the country, proactive environmental behavior, with concrete actions and initiatives beneficial to society as a whole.
Introduction
ANCAP is fully aware that their industrial activities interact in different ways, influencing - through production processes and also fully considered throughout the life cycle of their products - key components of the environment, so it is committed to continuous improvement their environmental performance.
ANCAP believes that the actions to ensure economic and social development of the country, can and should be accompanied by actions aimed at conservation and environmental protection in order to help improve the quality of life of the population, on solid sustainable.
Objective
Consequently, ANCAP has set as its fundamental objective of environmental policy:
"To guide the plans, programs, activities and operations of the company in all its stages, by the best available practices in conservation and environmental protection."
Principles
In turn, ANCAP adopted the following set of basic principles, integrating its Environmental Policy:
• Compliance
ANCAP is committed to incorporating procedures to ensure compliance with existing national and departmental regulations on environmental matters within the terms established, and also take the necessary actions to implement fully the MERCOSUR Environmental Guidelines, the Declaration of San José de ARPEL and gradually incorporate environmental guidelines adopted by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO series 14000) and environmental policies of the World Trade Organization.
• Conservation
Conservation and environmental protection are high priorities for ANCAP and equally important that any activities or transactions, in each and every one of its stages or phases and in any geographical area or operational units carrying and also ANCAP a way to promote sustainable development in harmony with the community, careful conservation of natural resources and the rational use of nonrenewable resources and respectful of the interdependence of ecosystems and biodiversity.
• Planning
ANCAP is committed to evaluating the potential environmental aspects of their projects, incorporating the consideration and balancing of environmental variables from the planning phase, favoring the alternative, less polluting and less harmful to the environment, consistent with the framework, implementing the relevant financial necessary measures to prevent or reduce negative impacts and implement valuable environmental tools such as monitoring plans environmental audits.
• Protection
Any environmental damage caused by ANCAP activities will be mitigated in an efficient and timely manner, by means of the adequacy of the environmental management of operational areas, with the support of monitoring plans and environmental control, in conjunction with good-specific tools given the complex and dynamic nature of the environment and the need to preserve the ecological balance, subject to privilege the preventive measures to the corrective and mitigating.
• Dissemination
ANCAP is committed to providing data and timely information to the authorities, NGOs and general public who request them, with respect to its environmental policy, its operational activities and environmental components of their plans and projects, providing due attention and consideration to initiatives, concerns and points of view, sensitive to the community on environmental issues and also undertakes to contribute to environmental education of the population, addressing their social, economic, cultural and environmental health.
• Contingencies
ANCAP has implemented a Contingency Plan Oil Spill necessary to minimize the consequences of accidents or unforeseen events which may cause negative environmental impacts, ensuring rapid and effective response and, eventually, to coordinate and complement their activities with other agencies and companies national or international, providing, when required, the implementation of plans aimed at environmental restoration of the affected areas.
• Research
ANCAP is committed to continually support and strengthen research activities aimed at improving the conservation and environmental protection in relation to their operations, develop or adapt appropriate technologies to improve the environmental quality of its products and industrial processes and to identify the technological procedures and guidelines necessary to provide certain environmental services to third parties.
• Training
ANCAP is committed to training its human resources on issues related to conservation and environmental protection, with particular emphasis on environmentally satisfactory and effective implementation of preventive, corrective and mitigating and also provide the corresponding areas, the adequate resources to implement environmental programs that should apply and develop their staff.
• Commitment
ANCAP requires the commitment of its staff to perform their duties in strict compliance with this Environmental Policy, to maintain a diligent attitude enabling them to identify and draw attention to situations that cause, or could cause "harm to the environment, propose measures they deem appropriate in such cases and if these were taken, to ensure proper and timely implementation within the framework of a common environmental ethic to the company and its officials.
